Time Delay Indicator Buzzer

Suitable for 12v negative earth vehicles only.

Installation

Installation is simple with just three wires to connect.

1. The shorter, single wire must be connected to ground.

This wire will be either black or white.

It should usually be connected to the metal chassis or bodywork but could be connected directly to the negative side of the battery.

2. The pair of twisted wires are connected to the left and right indicators.

These wires will be either red/yellow blue/brown or green/purple.

They should be connected to the 12v positive feeds that go to the left and right indicator bulbs.

I.E. one wire to left front (or rear) indicator and the either wire to the other side of the vehicle, it does not matter which one goes to which side.

Note:     (On my Caterham I was able to pick up these feeds from the back of the indicator switch on the dashboard. The switch has 3 terminals, the centre wire is the supply and the 2 outside terminal go to the left and right indicators, I connected one wire to one outside terminal and the other wire to the other outside terminal.

Please Note: This may not work on all cars, depending on how your indicators are wired up. If you do not have 12volts on the indicator switch (when the indicator bulb is on) then you will have to connect directly to the wires that go to the indicator bulbs).

3. Don't forget to remove or disable any existing buzzers.

It is better to just cover over the existing buzzer so it can't be heard as removing it from the circuit may effect the operation of the indicators

Adjustment

Initially the buzzer is setup to have a delay of approx 20 silent flashes before making any noise, however this time delay can easily be adjusted from almost nothing, to a delay of at least 5 mins and probably nearer 10 minutes!

1. Remove the 4 screws and carefully remove the cover.

Be careful as the LED may want to come away with the cover as it is quite a tight fit, if so just gentle push the LED out of the cover.

2. Use a small flat bladed screwdriver to adjust the variable resistor.

This is the small white thing in the top left hand corner with a screwdriver slot in it.

Turning it clockwise will reduce the time delay whilst anticlockwise will obviously increase the time delay.

3. Replace the cover.

Ensure the LED is aligned with the hole.

Operation

The LED will light up as soon as the indicators are switched on and will fade slightly each time the indicators flash off.

This shows you it is working OK before it starts making a noise.
